You know Ohio is not in Chicago.
You are probably thinking that is a strange title for a blog and you would be right. I actually overheard that very statement in the women’s bathroom at San Francisco Airport as someone was having a conversation on their cell phone. I had a good chuckle, but then it got me thinking about some of the things that travel professionals hear from clients. It amazes me how many people have no clue when it comes to geography. People today are used to seeing snapshots of maps (think tour and cruise itinerary maps) and when it comes to trying to find it on world map, sadly, many people are not able to find that snapshot on the map.
Never fear…a good travel professional will help you untangle the mysteries of geographic locations without making you feel stupid. They will make sure you don’t end up in India to see the Victoria Falls. They will ensure you don’t go to the Greek Isles to visit the Canary Islands. They will make sure you are on a Baltic Cruise and not an Eastern Mediterranean Cruise to visit Estonia; and they will not book you on an Eastern Caribbean cruise to visit Bora Bora.
A good travel professional is your geography expert and is there to recommend the right itinerary based on where you want to visit. They are constantly educating themselves on destinations through personal visits, courses, and presentations by tourist boards and suppliers. If you are unsure about where you want to visit, contact a good travel professional and ask them.
One last thing…you cannot visit Little Rock, Arkansas on a Mississippi River cruise.
